The Diamond Mine 16u Wins UNC Asheville Tournament

The Diamond Mine 16u completed a perfect weekend by going 4-0 and capturing the UNC Asheville championship sponsored by Net Elite. The Diamond Mine won 9-1, 6-2, 6-5 and 4-3 in a walk off fashion in the championship game to claim the crown. Pitching and defense was the story all weekend as Jesse Danner, Kane Butts, Heron Smith Martin, Jackson Ray, and Jayden Rogers all pitched well for The Diamond Mine. Ray picked up a save and a win on the final day. Diamond Mine 16u had some big hits all weekend. Danner again was big picking up some key RBI's and Truck Miller was the hero on Sunday getting the clutch base hit to walk off the victory. Ty Aycock, Tanner Stewart, Porter Davidson, and Jayden Rogers all swung the bats well all weekend.

The Diamond Mine started the season 0-5 losing some close games but has stormed back to win 5 in a row. The Diamond Mine will head to Tennessee this weekend taking their 5-game winning streak with them to compete in the Sevierville Wood Bat tournament. The Diamond Mine 16u are coached by former Diamond Mine player and current assistant coach at AC Reynolds High School, Newt Money.

Congratulations to all the players, coaches, and parents for an outstanding weekend.
